Venue

The 3rd Nottingham Image Analysis Training School is held at the University of Udine, Italy, in the "Mantica" Library room (via Mantica 3, Udine).

Udine is an old and lively city at the center of the Friuli - Venezia Giulia region, close to both mountains and sea, with venetian architecture and Tiepolo masterpieces and, last but not least, surrounded by renowned vineyards producing among the best italian white wines.

For a nice description of history, art, food & wine in Udine please read what our colleagues of the MIC2011 congress wrote here.

Udine has a network of buses covering its territory (PDF map here, online timetable here, unfortunately Italian only)), but its city centre is also relatively small, so that most places are reachable within 20-30 minutes walking.

How to reach Udine

By plane

The closest airport is Trieste (TRS); less practical, but with more international flights, there is also Venice (VCE). Treviso (TSF), served by low cost companies, is temporarily closed for renovation and its flights are being served by the Venice airport.

From the Trieste airport, you can reach Udine through public transport with a 40 minutes journey.

By train

There are many direct trains from Venice and a few direct trains from Rome, Milan; check the official railway timetable.
